Chips and Fish with Spicy Moroccan Carrot Salad and Citrus Tartar Sauce
Did you know that you can combine the beloved English classic of chips and fish with the exotic charm of an authentic Moroccan side salad in one seamless dinner? Rich in flavour and variety of spices, the carrot salad will complement very well the simple battered fish fillets.

- 1 package High Liner English Style Chips and Fish
Spicy Moroccan Carrot Salad
- 4 cups carrots, Ribbons
- ⅓ cup olive oil, plus extra to finish
- 2 tbs onion, finely chopped
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp minced ginger
- 1 tsp minced garlic
- 1 tsp serrano chili, finely chopped (and seeded, if you want less heat)
- 1 tsp green onion, finely chopped
- ⅛ tsp ground cloves
- ⅓ tsp ground coriander
- ¾ tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp sweet paprika
- ⅓ tsp ground cumin
- 1 tbs white wine vinegar
- 1 tbs Lemon and lemon zest
- ½ cups cilantro leaves, coarsely chopped, plus extra to garnish
- Salt as needed
- 1 tsp chopped Spring Onion
Citrus Tartar Sauce
- ¼ cup Tartar sauce
- 1 tsp lemon
- Cook High Liner English Style Chips and Fish according to package instructions.
- Meanwhile, combine lemon and Tartar Sauce to make the Citrus Tartar Sauce.
- Heat olive oil in a large pan and sauté the onion over medium heat until soft and slightly brown, about 5 minutes. Add the carrots to the onion, followed by the rest of the ingredients. Remove from the heat after 1 minutes. Season liberally with salt, stir well and leave to cool. Garnish with cilantro.
- Assemble each tray with chips and fish and a small bowl of Citrus Tartar Sauce as well as a bowl of Spicy Moroccan Carrot Salad as a side and enjoy!
