Oven Baked Onion Rings
- When it comes to snack time, nothing beats onion rings and wings – fish wings that is. This delectable duo is sure to satisfy your snack time cravings (and make you the go-to chef for any party).
- 1 cup milk
- 4 egg whites, whisked
- ¾ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp paprika
- Dash of salt and pepper
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- Cooking spray
Buffalo Aioli Dipping Sauce
- 1 tbsp buffalo sauce
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tsp honey
- Preheat the oven to 425°F and place the fish wings in a single layer on a baking sheet. Set aside.
- Slice the onions in ½” slices and place them in a large mixing bowl. Pour the milk on top and stir to coat. Allow the onions to soak while you set out 3 shallow bowls and prepare another baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Place the whisked egg whites in one of the shallow bowls. In another bowl, combine the flour, paprika, salt and pepper. In the remaining bowl, place the panko. Take the sliced onions, one by one, out of the milk and shake off excess. Dredge the onion ring in flour, then place it into the egg whites, covering it completely. Take it out and press it into the panko, ensuring the crumbs stick to both sides, and place it onto the baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining onion slices.
- Spray the onion rings with cooking spray and place both baking sheets (fish wings and onion rings) into the oven. Bake for 15 minutes, then remove the baking sheets. Flip the fish wings and onion rings, then spray the onion rings again with cooking spray. Bake for another 5-7 minutes. Remove the fish wings and cover with aluminum foil to keep warm, while you cook the onion rings for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until crispy and cooked through.
- While the fish wings and onion rings are cooking, prepare the dipping sauce by whisking together the buffalo sauce, mayo, minced garlic and honey. Serve immediately.
